Context
Three months separate Fallen's arrival in stores from Evanescence's Rock am Ring debut. On June 7, 2003, the band takes the Nürburgring's main stage. Amy Lee and Ben Moody arrive in Germany with the first album still fresh and an international tour under way.
Going Under opens the run, and nine tracks from Fallen carry the show. Lee takes the vocals, Moody and John LeCompt share the guitars, while Will Boyd and Rocky Gray complete the lineup. Farther Away and Even in Death widen the selection; The Smashing Pumpkins' Zero comes before Bring Me to Life.
Television captures the whole show, preserving this first festival appearance. The following year, Evanescence returns to Rock am Ring, still promoting Fallen. The 2003 recording remains a document of the first encounter with this stage, with Ben Moody on guitar and only one studio album out.
- The Smashing Pumpkins' Zero comes in between Even in Death and Bring Me to Life.
