Context
On June 8, 2003, Sunday at Pinkpop goes through heavy rain and flooded areas in Landgraaf. Anouk takes the south stage at 7:15 p.m., before Massive Attack. Graduated Fool, her third studio album, had come out the previous November; the festival appearance follows a run of shows in Dutch theaters.
On stage, Anouk sings with two guitars, bass and drums: Leendert Haaksma, Martijn van Agt, Michel van Schie and Hans Eijkenaar make up the lineup. Too Long, Everything and Who Cares set the recent album beside Nobody's Wife and Michel. It is a meeting between the new phase and the songs that already carry her career.
The recording ends up in more than one place. Michel appears on Update, while Pinkpop footage becomes part of Close Up, a DVD that also gathers performances from other 2003 festivals. The night is not confined to the TV broadcast: it spreads across audio and film, in different cuts of the same season.
