Context
On June 1, 2012, Evanescence returns to the Nürburgring with a newly affirmed collective identity. The third album, released the year before, was the first written with the whole band contributing. At Rock am Ring, this phase takes up concrete space: seven of the fourteen songs come from it.
Amy Lee handles vocals and piano, surrounded by Terry Balsamo's and Troy McLawhorn's guitars, Tim McCord's bass and Will Hunt's drums. What You Want opens the set. Lithium and Your Star bring back The Open Door, while Sick gets an extended introduction before the home stretch.
Bring Me to Life closes the show, but the road goes on until November, when the tour ends in London. After this cycle, the band goes on hiatus. The full recording circulates as a festival broadcast and preserves a precise slice: the third album still shares the present with the hits of the first two.
- Sick gets an extended introduction at the center of the show.
