Context
On June 8, 2003, Marilyn Manson's cabaret meets the Nürburgring circuit. The Golden Age of Grotesque had reached stores a few weeks earlier, with Tim Sköld in the spot once held by Twiggy Ramirez. The Rock am Ring stop is part of the first European leg of Grotesk Burlesk.
Manson opens with This Is the New Shit and puts seven songs from the new album into rotation. John 5 takes guitar, Sköld bass, Madonna Wayne Gacy keyboards and Ginger Fish drums. Sweet Dreams takes in an ending from The Reflecting God; The Fight Song arrives with an intro of It's a Small World.
After Germany, the tour continues across Europe and through the North American summer on Ozzfest, stretching its route into 2004. The show remains documented by Rockpalast as a television record of this change of phase. The meeting between freshly released material and songs from the three previous albums gives the broadcast its precise shape.
- Sweet Dreams ends in The Reflecting God, while It's a Small World introduces The Fight Song.
