Why watch

“To see Amy Lee present The Open Door as an acoustic trio before its release, at Sony Studios in New York.”

Context

In August 2006, The Open Door has yet to reach stores. Evanescence presents its new songs on a smaller scale than the full-band shows. At Sony Studios in New York, the Yahoo Italia session brings together Amy Lee, John LeCompt and Dave Eggar.

Lee handles vocals and piano, LeCompt plays acoustic guitar and Eggar adds cello. The run opens with All That I'm Living For, moves through Call Me When You're Sober and Lithium and ends on Good Enough. They are four songs from the same album, presented without leaning on the hits from Fallen to carry the session.

These recordings travel beyond the online performance: three acoustic versions end up on the Call Me When You're Sober and Lithium singles. The Open Door reaches stores from September on and debuts at the top of the American chart. The session remains a concentrated presentation of the songs before that expansion.

Dave Eggar plays cello on all four songs, alongside Amy Lee and John LeCompt.
