Context
On October 2, 2011, Evanescence arrives at the last night of Rock in Rio with a new album still to come. Its previous visit to Brazil had been in 2009. Now, on the Palco Mundo, the group shares the bill with System of a Down and Guns N' Roses and presents its next phase.
What You Want opens the show, and Going Under bridges back to Fallen. Amy Lee moves between microphone and piano, surrounded by Terry Balsamo's and Troy McLawhorn's guitars, Tim McCord's bass and Will Hunt's drums. Made of Stone, My Heart Is Broken and Sick get their first live performances.
In the following days, the self-titled album reaches stores, and the tour moves on through Puerto Rico, the United States and Europe. The Rio show remains as a broadcast recording, with thirteen songs and Bring Me to Life at the close. It is a portrait of transition: almost half the night belongs to an album the audience is still waiting for.
- Made of Stone, My Heart Is Broken and Sick get their first live performances.
