Context
The sun is still beating down on Landgraaf when Deftones takes Pinkpop's north stage on June 7, 2003. Five years after its first visit to the festival, the group returns with a freshly released record. The self-titled album had hit stores on May 20, opening the phase after White Pony.
Chino Moreno opens with Change (In the House of Flies), backed by Stephen Carpenter, Chi Cheng, Abe Cunningham and Frank Delgado. Hexagram, Minerva and Bloody Cape put the new work into circulation. The heat and technical problems run through the set: Chino's guitar fails, and Digital Bath is dropped from the songs played.
My Own Summer (Shove It) and Headup take the final stretch. The album's tour continues through 2004, while this appearance remains a festival recording, with no confirmed DVD release. The recording preserves a lineup with Chi Cheng and a concrete transition: the new songs already share the space with the ones that got the band this far.
- Technical problems knock Digital Bath out of the planned setlist.
