Context
The Palace of Auburn Hills welcomes Creed in the Weathered era. The third album is already in stores, and the band takes its songs to American arenas. Brian Marshall is out of the lineup: Brett Hestla takes bass on the shows alongside Scott Stapp, Mark Tremonti and Scott Phillips.
The recording belongs to the cycle of an album that adds Bullets, One Last Breath and My Sacrifice to the repertoire. The band keeps its link to My Own Prison and Human Clay, the two earlier records. The Palace, in the Detroit area, places this stage of the career on the big-arena circuit.
The tour fills 2002 and closes the run of travels for this first lineup without Marshall. The split is announced in 2004. The Auburn Hills recording stays tied to that window, when Weathered is the most recent album and the band is still on its first pass through the arenas.
