Context
On July 1, 2002, Bowie arrives at the Olympia after presenting Low and Heathen together in New York and London. Paris changes the rule: the two albums no longer organize the night in blocks. The new album stays at the center, but now shares space with different decades of his career.
Stay opens the show, followed by his take on Neil Young's I've Been Waiting for You. Breaking Glass and Be My Wife keep the link to Low, while Slip Away and Afraid anchor Heathen's presence. Between guitars, piano and keyboards, Bowie leads twenty songs without confining the night to a single phase.
After Heathen (The Rays), the encore begins with Everyone Says 'Hi' and moves through Hallo Spaceboy, Let's Dance and I'm Afraid of Americans to Ziggy Stardust. The tour continues across Europe and North America. Filmed by ARTE for broadcast in September, the Olympia stop finds its destination on television.
- Ziggy Stardust closes a five-song encore.
