“To see Evanescence return to the festival whose first Portuguese edition it played twenty years earlier.”
Context
Twenty years after playing the first Portuguese edition, Evanescence returns to Rock in Rio Lisboa on June 15, 2024. The festival trades Parque da Bela Vista for Parque Tejo. On the Palco Mundo, the band shares the rock night with Extreme and Scorpions.
Amy Lee opens with Broken Pieces Shine and crosses The Bitter Truth with songs from the first albums. Tim McCord and Troy McLawhorn handle the guitars, Emma Anzai plays bass and Will Hunt holds down the drums. Before Use My Voice, Amy turns the show into a call to use one's voice as resistance.
My Immortal and Bring Me to Life close the Lisbon stop. In September, the group moves on to the festival's Brazilian edition. The Portuguese night is broadcast live on SIC Radical and online: the recording preserves the meeting between a band that played the debut edition and a festival that has changed address.
- End of the Dream takes in the introduction from Synthesis.
