Context
Berlin is not just another stop for Iggy Pop. It was there, alongside David Bowie, that he found distance from excess and cleared the way for The Idiot and Lust for Life. On June 19, 2025, at 78, he returns to the city before about ten thousand people at the Spandau Citadel.
T.V. Eye opens the performance, and the black vest lasts a few seconds before leaving his torso bare. Raw Power and Gimme Danger pull the Stooges' past into the fortress courtyard. The Passenger and Lust for Life put Berlin back at the center; Frenzy and Modern Day Rip Off bring in the Every Loser material.
The night is part of Live 2025, the second of five German open-air shows. The tour continues after Spandau, while the film circulates through ARTE Concert, directed by David Ctiborsky and produced by La Blogothèque. The recording preserves this reunion between the singer and a city decisive for his artistic transformation.
- L.A. Blues and Nightclubbing meet in a medley called Apocalypse on the stage setlist.
