“To see the Scorpions celebrate forty years of Love at First Sting at the festival's debut in Parque Tejo.”
Context
Two anniversaries meet at Parque Tejo on June 15, 2024. Rock in Rio Lisboa turns twenty and debuts a new site. The Scorpions arrive with the tour for the fortieth anniversary of Love at First Sting and close the Palco Mundo after Evanescence, Extreme and Xutos & Pontapés.
Coming Home opens the show, followed by Gas in the Tank. Klaus Meine guides the trip across decades in front of some 80,000 people. Send Me an Angel trades electric guitars for acoustics and meets cell phone lights in the crowd. During Wind of Change, the screen shows the lyrics and Meine wraps himself in the Portuguese flag.
Still Loving You and Rock You Like a Hurricane close the encore. Three days later, the tour moves on to Vienne, in France. The Portuguese night lives on in professional footage, in the festival's broadcast circuit. The recording fixes the meeting between an album celebration and a party that changes ground without giving up its guitars.
- Send Me an Angel makes room for acoustic guitars and cell phone lights in the crowd.
- Delicate Dance and New Vision spotlight Matthias Jabs and Mikkey Dee in solos.
