Context
Twenty years separate Keane's debut on the Other Stage from this Saturday afternoon on the Pyramid Stage. On June 29, 2024, the quartet returns to Glastonbury with a tour devoted to Hopes and Fears. The record that opened the way in 2004 now frames the reunion with the festival.
Tom Chaplin opens with Bend and Break, joined by Tim Rice-Oxley, Jesse Quin and Richard Hughes. The run also passes through Under the Iron Sea and Strangeland, without leaving the heart of the celebration. Between songs, the singer recalls the 2004 crowd; in Silenced by the Night, he works Glastonbury's name into the lyrics.
Somewhere Only We Know comes in the home stretch, before Sovereign Light Café and the closing Bedshaped. The celebration continues on the world tour until December. BBC Four broadcasts the performance as part of its festival coverage, preserving an hour in which the first record's anniversary meets once more the stage that helped launch it.
- Chaplin transforms Silenced by the Night by working Glastonbury into the lyrics.
