Context
In April 2024, Jakob Nowell reaches Coachella's main stage at 28, the age his father was when he died. After a benefit show in Los Angeles in December, he takes vocals and guitar in Sublime alongside original members Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh.
At the Empire Polo Club, Bradley's guitar passes into his son's hands. April 29, 1992 (Miami) opens a run of fourteen songs, eight of them from the album Sublime. Trey Pangborn and DJ Product complete the stage group. During Date Rape, part of the crowd opens a pit; Santeria closes the performance at sunset.
At the end, Jakob thanks his father and the group leaves the stage without an encore. The reunion moves on to the festival's second weekend and other shows in 2024. Streamed online, the night preserves a passage between generations: not a replacement that erases the absence, but a lineup that carries the Sublime name again.
- Jakob plays his father's guitar and closes the performance with a tribute to him.
