Why watch

“To see Keane bring the twentieth-anniversary celebration of Hopes and Fears to the Isle of Wight.”

Context

Twenty years after its debut, Keane arrives at Seaclose Park with Hopes and Fears once again at the center of the schedule. The anniversary edition came out in May, and the tour runs through 2024. On June 22, the Isle of Wight festival welcomes the band to the main stage, on the Pet Shop Boys' Saturday.

Tom Chaplin takes the vocals, Tim Rice-Oxley the keyboards, Richard Hughes the drums and Jesse Quin the bass. The cut starts at The Way I Feel and follows the night's final run. Everybody's Changing, This Is the Last Time, Somewhere Only We Know and Bedshaped bring the debut into a set that also visits the later records.

After Newport, the schedule moves on to Glastonbury a week later, ahead of the September North American leg. The performance is part of the TV coverage produced by CC-Lab for Sky Arts and Sky Showcase. The recording preserves a celebration that isn't limited to the anniversary: Sovereign Light Café closes the festival set, eight years past the debut on the map of the records.
