Context
In 2019, the December gathering trades a single stage for a journey. Roberto Carlos tours the United States and Europe with Amor Sin Límite, and television follows part of that route. New York and Lisbon provide performances that are later combined with a Brazilian recording at Ópera de Arame in Curitiba.
On the Curitiba stage, Amigo makes room for a tangible presence: Erasmo Carlos arrives with a rose for Roberto. The two revisit a memory from their youth in Tijuca and perform Maria e o Samba, a previously unreleased composition by his songwriting partner. Between the ballads and the samba, friendship becomes more than just a subject in the lyrics.
Aired by Globo on December 20, the program turns months on the road into a special that also includes rehearsals and behind-the-scenes footage. The editing brings the singer's international travels together with the reunion with his longtime collaborator. The footage is destined for television: different cities come to share the same year-end memory.
