Context
In October 2020, Jardim Botânico do Recife hosts a concert without an audience. Pandemic restrictions interrupt contact with the public, but not the stage debut of Alexandre Gois e Joaquim Pessoa. Friends since their late teens, the two had released their first album as a duo in September.
The stage occupies the very space reserved for spectators. Alexandre sings, Joaquim plays acoustic guitar, and the songs from Desassossego return to the format in which they were born. Gois also picks up the instrument on Um quase fado para o Recife and Retratos. On Os prazeres, Almério and Flaira Ferro join the night’s voices.
With overall direction by Marcelo Barreto and audio by Carlinhos Borges, the performance finds a life beyond that empty night. In March 2022, Desassossego Ao Vivo arrives as a digital album and video album through Biscoito Fino. The release preserves a concrete response to isolation: bringing collaborators together and keeping songs in circulation when gathering in person still faces barriers.
- Almério and Flaira Ferro join in on Os prazeres.

Trivia

Foi assim enters the duo’s repertoire through the memory of Fafá de Belém’s recording on the album Água.
