Context
Five years separate the end of the previous run and Chico Buarque's return to the stage in December 2017. In April 2018, the tour reaches its recording nights at Tom Brasil in São Paulo. Caravanas provides the backbone: all nine tracks feature in the show, without turning the evening into an album-only performance.
Chico opens with Minha embaixada chegou, by Assis Valente, and moves on to Mambembe and Partido alto. Luiz Claudio Ramos leads the band through acoustic guitars, piano, keyboards, winds and percussion. A volta do malandro and Homenagem ao malandro appear back to back; later, Tua cantiga and As caravanas share space with Sabiá and Gota d'água.
The tour continues through September 2018, reaching ten Brazilian cities as well as Lisbon and Porto. In November, the recording of the two São Paulo nights arrives on DVD and double CD, directed by Joana Mazzucchelli. Geni e o Zepelim, Futuros amantes and Paratodos close out the set, after the opening samba returns to the stage.
