Context
The 1978 World Cup is still to come, but it already runs through Roberto Carlos's year-end special. At the Concha Acústica da UERJ, in Rio de Janeiro, more than 12,000 people watch a performance that the TV edit intercuts with images of the Brazilian national team.
Roberto sings Se Você Pensa and Amada Amante, but also makes room for Ponteio, Wave and Travessia. His partnership with Erasmo Carlos gets a dedication with Amigo. Then the two put on Elvis Presley-style jumpsuits and share a tribute that includes Hound Dog and Love Me Tender.
Pelé, Garrincha and Rivelino also appear in the program, bringing the stage close to the soccer that guides the edit. The show is part of the series of annual specials begun in 1974 and remains in Globo's archive. Decades later, the 1977 edition becomes available on Globoplay, preserving this crossing of popular song and television.
- Roberto and Erasmo Carlos share a tribute to Elvis Presley dressed in jumpsuits in the singer's style.
