Tour albumDe Santo Amaro a Xerém (ao Vivo)De Santo Amaro a Xerém“To see Santo Amaro and Xerém share the stage in a meeting written especially for Bethânia and Zeca.”
Context
Santo Amaro names Bethânia's hometown; Xerém, Zeca Pagodinho's retreat. In May 2018, the two bring that link to Credicard Hall, in São Paulo. The title joins places, but it also brings together two ways of moving through samba, with solo blocks and meetings throughout the performance.
Amaro a Xerém, written by Caetano Veloso for the project, opens the meeting after the Verdade vignette. Bethânia and Zeca move through Sonho Meu and Você Não Entende Nada, while the program saves room for Negue, Ronda and Vai Vadiar. The tributes to the samba schools get a medley dedicated to Mangueira.
The nights of May 18 and 19 are recorded for the audiovisual release. Jaime Alem and Paulão Sete Cordas share musical direction. The result documents a partnership built for that show, with personal repertoires that find common ground.
