Context
On July 5, 2019, Céline Dion trades the Las Vegas theater for the open space of Hyde Park. Her second residency at Caesars Palace had ended on June 8. London hosts her only European performance of that year, between the farewell to a fixed stage and the next world tour.
The Power of Love opens the night. Céline alternates ballads, costume changes and vocal pairings: Barnev Valsaint shares Beauty and the Beast, while the backing vocalists take over a funk and disco medley. Kiss and Purple Rain bring Prince into the program. At the close, she sits down to sing Imagine and call for peace and harmony.
Flying On My Own points to the next step, but Hyde Park is not yet part of the Courage World Tour. The tour begins in September, in Quebec, and Courage arrives in November. The London performance sits in that interval: after the long commitment to Las Vegas, before returning to the road with a new record.
- Barnev Valsaint shares Beauty and the Beast; Imagine closes the night.
