“To follow excerpts from Brighton at the close of the tour that reunites Fahey and Detroit after their 1993 split.”
Context
In November 2019, Brighton hosts the close of a reconciliation that once seemed unlikely. Siobhan Fahey and Marcella Detroit had split in 1993; now they share the stage again on the Shakespears Sister Ride Again tour. The selection starts from that reunion night but crosses other performances, without preserving a single concert or its original order.
At the Brighton Dome, the two sing and wield guitars, backed by Clare Kenny on bass and Marco Pirroni on lead guitar. Goodbye Cruel World opens the cut, and Stay appears among the ten selected songs from Hormonally Yours. C U Next Tuesday brings this old repertoire close to the recordings made for the 2019 reunion.
When the Brighton portion ends, the edit changes stage and era. You're History comes from the Isle of Wight Festival; Heroine goes back to Leningrad in 1988. Further on, Richard Hawley shares When She Finds You at the London Palladium. These fragments end up in an informal compilation, closed by another Stay, now acoustic.
