Context
On December 24, 1974, Globo airs the first Roberto Carlos Christmas special produced by the network. Instead of putting everything on one stage, the program travels through Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, the road to Santos and a family dinner. The singer's life story provides the script.
Roberto shares Gaivotas with Antônio Marcos on a small yacht at sea. Alongside Erasmo Carlos, he sings Haroldo, o Robô Doméstico among puppets. Paulo Gracindo recites Não Quero Ver Você Triste while Roberto plays acoustic guitar. These encounters break up the musical sequence and give the special the scale of a conversation.
The debut opens a series that spans decades of year-end programming. In 2024, the recording is part of the Viva channel's retrospective, also arriving on Globoplay. The rediscovery preserves a format less tied to the concert: television brings road, memory, staging and song together within the same hour.
- Gaivotas brings together Roberto Carlos and Antônio Marcos on a yacht, far from a conventional stage.
