Album featured at the showRoberto Carlos1980The 1980 album provides O Gosto de Tudo, Procura-se, Amante à Moda Antiga and A Guerra dos Meninos for the special.“To see Roberto Carlos's first annual special without sketches or guests, centered on the Anhembi stage.”
Context
In December 1980, the year-end gathering trades sketches and guests for the Anhembi stage. Roberto Carlos takes center stage alone, with an orchestra and songs from that year's album. The program also launches the campaign tied to the International Year of Disabled Persons, observed in 1981.
Amigo opens the performance after the instrumental introduction. Seu Corpo, Proposta, Olha and Um Jeito Estúpido de Te Amar flow together in a medley. O Gosto de Tudo and Amante à Moda Antiga showcase the recent material. Lady Laura finds its namesake in the audience; Meu Querido, Meu Velho, Meu Amigo pays tribute to his father, who died that year.
The gathering airs on television on December 23, directed by Augusto César Vannucci. The recording leaves the stage only for A Guerra dos Meninos: outside UN headquarters in New York, Roberto sings with forty children. The special brings together the intimacy of family tributes and a collective message of peace.
- Lady Laura is sung with the singer's mother in the audience.
