Context
On Christmas night 2010, Copacabana beach welcomes Roberto Carlos in front of hundreds of thousands of people. The stage stands in front of the Copacabana Palace. A knee injury sets a contrast to the scale of the party: the singer needs a stool to get through much of the show.
Emoções opens the night, and Copacabana turns the address into a song. Paula Fernandes shares a Jovem Guarda medley with the host. Bruno & Marrone come in with Dormi na Praça; then Exaltasamba leads the samba block. The orchestra is conducted by Eduardo Lages.
Beija-Flor previews the following Carnival with the samba that honors the singer. Noite Feliz brings in the Rocinha choir, and Jesus Cristo closes the performance. Globo's broadcast preserves a shorter version than the event on the sand. For Paula Fernandes, the appearance becomes a landmark of national exposure.
- Beija-Flor brings to the beach the samba-enredo of its 2011 tribute to Roberto Carlos.
- Lady Laura carries the weight of the first Christmas without the singer's mother.
