Context
In June 2011, Avenged Sevenfold tours Europe with Nightmare still its most recent album. Pinkpop welcomes the band in Landgraaf on the 12th, right after its stop at Download Festival. Arin Ilejay is on drums for this leg, following Mike Portnoy's stint in the previous cycle.
M. Shadows, Synyster Gates, Zacky Vengeance and Johnny Christ share Megaland with the new drummer. The show belongs to the Welcome to the Family Tour, part of the Nightmare run. It is a festival recording of a lineup in transition, with the recent material sitting alongside the earlier albums.
The next day, the route takes the group to Lille, in France. The Pinkpop archive keeps the Dutch show available years later. The gap between filming and posting lets you go back to 2011, when Ilejay was starting his time in the band and Nightmare still defined that touring cycle.
