Album featured at the showAmor Sem Limite2000The special features songs from Amor Sem Limite, an album dedicated to Maria Rita and released the week of the broadcast.“To see Roberto Carlos return to Globo's special after his absence in 1999, marked by Maria Rita's death.”
Context
In December 2000, an absence lies at the heart of the reunion. Maria Rita died the previous year, when Roberto Carlos did not present his traditional Globo special. Now he returns to Projac before around 200 guests, shortly after returning to Brazilian stages.
Emoções opens the performance. Under Eduardo Lages's direction, a 30-piece orchestra accompanies Roberto, who chats with the audience and praises their singing. Among the guests are actors from Laços de Família. He cries while singing Eu Te Amo Tanto and Amor Sem Limite.
The recording airs on television on December 21, the same week Amor Sem Limite arrives in stores. The program also includes an interview with the singer. The return to the year-end calendar does not erase his grief: it makes a declaration of love the central theme of the reunion.
- Eu Te Amo Tanto and Amor Sem Limite bring the singer to tears.
