Tour albumAs canções de Eu, Tu, Eles2000 · As Canções de Eu, Tu, ElesThe soundtrack to Andrucha Waddington's film gives rise to the show dedicated to forró and Luiz Gonzaga's songbook.“To see Gil turn the Eu, Tu, Eles soundtrack into a São Paulo June festival party, in the year of the film.”
Context
In June 2000, Gilberto Gil's June festival party fits on the Via Funchal stage in São Paulo. The soundtrack to Eu, Tu, Eles, Andrucha Waddington's film, sets the course of the trip. Luiz Gonzaga sits at the center of a project that brings the film's songs close to the June festivities.
Gil opens with O Amor Daqui de Casa and moves through baiões and xotes with a ten-piece band. Cicinho takes the accordion; Jorge Gomes adds zabumba to the drums; Carlos Malta alternates saxophone and flutes. Baião meets De Onde Vem o Baião, while Cajuína flows into Refazenda, bringing writers and generations together.
Esperando na Janela returns at the close, after Madalena and Toda Menina Baiana. The show gets a CD edition in 2001; the full performance reaches DVD in 2007, with an interview among the extras. The film also preserves Expresso 2222 and the soundtrack songs missing from that audio selection.
- Cicinho on accordion and Carlos Malta on horns are part of the ten-piece band.
