Context
In 1999, Ricky Martin crosses the language border without abandoning his Spanish-language repertoire. His first English-language album is already in stores when Liberty State Park in Jersey City hosts the taping of a special that brings this new phase close to two references: Carlos Santana and José Feliciano.
On stage, Livin' la Vida Loca opens the way for She's All I Ever Had and Shake Your Bon-Bon. Spanish Eyes joins Lola, Lola in a medley. The collaboration with Santana and Feliciano brings together Light My Fire, Oye Como Va and Guajira; María and La Copa de la Vida complete the program.
The performance is directed by Bruce Gowers and reaches American television on CBS in November. The recording also finds a home video release, first on VHS in the United States and later on DVD. One Night Only fixes this meeting between Martin's international expansion and the guest musicians who share his stage.
- Light My Fire, Oye Como Va and Guajira form the medley with the guests.
