Why watch

“To see Roberto Carlos at Peralada Castle in 1989, during a stop in his international career.”

Context

A Catalan castle welcomes Roberto Carlos in the summer of 1989. Peralada hosts a season bringing together classical music and international acts, while the Brazilian singer takes another spot in the summer program. The appearance brings his international career to the castle's concert setting.

Onstage, Roberto Carlos handles lead vocals, accompanied by the musical ensemble that defines this phase of his shows. Eduardo Lages serves as musical director during this period. Backing vocals are also part of the ensemble, with Ana Lúcia Heringer, Luiz Carlos Ismail and Miriam Peracchi.

The performance gains a second life on Spanish television. TVE records it for broadcast, preserving approximately 76 minutes of the Peralada appearance. More than a memento of the trip, the recording keeps this meeting between the Brazilian singer and a Spanish stage accessible.
