Krezip — Pinkpop 2000
Recorded June 11, 2000
Megaland · Landgraaf ·
Netherlands
Setlist not available.
“To see Krezip's Pinkpop debut, the performance that brings the young group national recognition.”
Context
On June 11, 2000, five young musicians from Tilburg face Pinkpop for the first time. Jacqueline Govaert is 18. The group had already released Run Around independently and signed with Warner. In Landgraaf, national TV exposure decisively widens the band's reach.
The guitars of Anne Govaert and Annelies Kuijsters drive the faster part of the set. In Her Sun gets the crowd singing, while Jacqueline sits at the piano to change the pressure. I Would Stay gets a cello; I'll Be Gone makes room for Renee Holleman's congas.
After the festival, I Would Stay becomes one of the hits of the Dutch summer and reaches number one on the Dutch Top 40. The performance remains a document of that turning point, preserved by the TV broadcast. In 2019, Pinkpop becomes part of the group's story again, this time as the stage for a reunion.
- I Would Stay trades the pressure of the guitars for piano and cello accompaniment.
