Context
In 1981, Chile welcomes Roberto Carlos with the songs from the previous year's album still fresh from release. This is the period of an album that brings together A Guerra dos Meninos, Amante à Moda Antiga and Não Se Afaste de Mim, balancing romance and messages of peace.
Onstage, Roberto sings some of this recent material in a performance lasting nearly an hour. The Chilean visit falls within the period when Eduardo Lages is already his musical director: their partnership began in 1978, when the singer decided to bring an orchestra to his shows.
After that visit, the collaboration with Lages spans decades and thousands of performances in Brazil and abroad. The Chilean recording preserves an early snapshot of their shared history, tied to the circulation of the songs from 1980. Its appeal lies in this close connection between the album and the stage.
