“To see Gil and Milton bring their bands together on the tour that takes the joint album to the stage.”
Context
Two bands share the same stage in a partnership that hits the road after meeting in the studio. Gilberto Gil and Milton Nascimento reach 2001 with Gil & Milton, released the previous October. The project gathers five songs written by the two, along with new readings of their repertoires and of other writers.
Lar Hospitalar opens the run, followed by Sebastian. The new co-writes meet Fé Cega, Faca Amolada and Tempo Rei, without reducing the meeting to the album's tracks. Two drum kits, three percussionists, bass, keyboards, guitar and horns make up the lineup backing the singers. Drão and Paula e Bebeto also enter the conversation.
The tour was already on the road in 2000 and runs through the following year. Television also keeps this meeting: Multishow airs a special in April 2001, with the same backing lineup. The recording preserves a phase in which the partnership stops being just an album and starts sharing the stage.
- The album's five co-writes appear in sequence: Lar Hospitalar, Sebastian, Duas Sanfonas, Dinamarca and Trovoada.
