“To see the classic lineup in Munich on Supertramp's last tour with Roger Hodgson.”
Context
In July 1983, Supertramp reaches Munich with a farewell on the horizon: Roger Hodgson leaves the band at the end of the tour. The Reitstadion Riem hosts two consecutive nights, filmed by ZDF. The lineup that went through Crime of the Century and Breakfast in America is still together.
Crazy opens the show and puts ...Famous Last Words... on the front line. Rick Davies and Hodgson share the vocals, while Fred Mandel and Scott Page expand the group to seven musicians. The run passes through Hide in Your Shell and Rudy, reaches Fool's Overture and saves School and Crime of the Century for the encore.
After Munich, the tour moves on to North America and ends in September, closing Hodgson's time with the group. The German footage reaches television on RockPop in Concert. Images from Munich also appear on The Story So Far..., released on VHS in 1990: the lineup breaks up, but its presence on stage remains on record.
