“To see Roberto Carlos before the Buenos Aires audience in the year he turns fifty.”
Context
In 1991, Roberto Carlos turns fifty and brings the show Coração to Brazilian stages, accompanied by Eduardo Lages's orchestra. In Buenos Aires, the language changes, but the focus remains: love songs that cross borders without losing the singer's identity.
Emociones opens the performance, followed by Propuesta and Que Será de Ti. Roberto moves through Cama y Mesa, Cóncavo y Convexo and Desahogo before reaching Estos Celos and Por Ella. Aquarela do Brasil makes room for Portuguese; El Día que Me Quieras brings the repertoire closer to Argentine tradition.
Amazonia comes toward the end, before Amada Amante and Amigo close the sequence. The recording preserves this meeting between the Brazilian songbook and its reach in Spanish. More than a selection of hits, the set documents how Roberto presents his songs to another audience in the year he turns fifty.
- El Día que Me Quieras brings Carlos Gardel and Alfredo Le Pera into the repertoire.
