Context
Between the big halls of Isolar II, Bowie finds in Bremen a small stage with no barriers, in front of about 150 people. The Radio Bremen studio has a bar, tables and chairs. In May 1978, the music of Low and Heroes fills a space very different from the tour's arenas.
Bowie brings together Carlos Alomar, George Murray and Dennis Davis with Adrian Belew's guitar, Simon House's violin and the keyboards of Sean Mayes and Roger Powell. Sense of Doubt opens the show. Beauty and the Beast and Heroes lead to Stay, while Warszawa keeps room for the experimental pieces.
The session reaches German television on August 4, 1978, directed by Michael Leckebusch. What in the World and Warszawa are left out of that broadcast. Decades later, a restoration brings together material from different sources and recovers both tracks, extending this portrait of the Isolar II lineup to 55 minutes.
