Context
In June 1984, the Westfalenhalle welcomes a rebuilt Yes. The band had shut down in 1981 and come back with 90125, now with Trevor Rabin on guitar. Dortmund meets this lineup on its first tour, with Jon Anderson out front again and Tony Kaye back on keyboards.
The TV cut opens with Owner of a Lonely Heart and draws five of its six songs from the recent album. Hold On, It Can Happen, Changes and City of Love fill the center of the selection. Starship Trooper closes the program and links the new lineup to the 1970s repertoire.
The recording reaches German television through ZDF, on the RockPop in Concert program, in August of that year. Its destination differs from the film 9012Live, recorded later in Edmonton and released on VHS in 1985. Dortmund remains a TV document of this European stop, not the tour's official film.
- Starship Trooper closes a selection dominated by 90125.
