Context
In 1979, ABBA takes its studio production on the road for a tour of North America and Europe. The British leg includes six shows at Wembley Arena, in London. The cameras follow the stage and the travel, forming the material that takes the name ABBA in Concert.
Waterloo opens the edit. Voulez-Vous, Chiquitita and I Have a Dream bring in the songs from that year's album. Agnetha, Frida, Björn and Benny share the stage with backing musicians. The film intersperses the songs with backstage footage and rearranges the order of the concerts, building a portrait of the run of shows.
The trip still reaches Japan in March 1980. After that leg, the group never tours again. The special reaches television in 1980 and DVD in 2004. ABBA in Concert preserves a selection from the Wembley run, with the offstage routine woven into the story.
