Context
In March 1988, Supertramp reaches Madrid with an important change: Roger Hodgson's songs return to the set, even without their author on stage. The World Migration Tour promotes Free as a Bird and brings together Rick Davies, the other three members of the lineup established in the 1970s and four supporting musicians.
Davies leads the band from the keyboards, while Mark Hart takes vocals, guitar and keyboards. Not the Moment and Where I Stand represent the recent album among pieces such as Rudy and Cannonball. The TV edit puts School and Crime of the Century up front; on stage, those two songs belong to the encore.
TVE turns the performance into a program, and the British edition gets English credits and a stereo mix. The same tour also supplies the recordings behind the album Live '88. After it, the group stops working; the return to the stage only comes in 1997, by then without Dougie Thomson.
- John Helliwell breaks off the sequence to sing Happy Birthday to the bassist.
