Context
Ten sold-out shows turn Wembley Arena into a fixed address for Luther Vandross in 1989. He arrives in London with Any Love, released the year before, and becomes the first male artist to sell out the arena for ten consecutive shows. The run gives scale to the singer's international moment.
On stage, Vandross opens with Never Too Much and places the recent songs alongside those that already carry his solo career. Any Love and Come Back appear early. Lisa Fischer, Ava Cherry and Kevin Owens sing backing vocals; Doc Powell is on guitar for this Wembley stand.
Superstar and A House Is Not a Home lead the final stretch before She Won't Talk to Me and Stop to Love. The recording circulates on VHS and reaches DVD in 2000. The release preserves eleven numbers from a run that makes the London arena a concrete milestone in his career.
