Context
On January 23, 1990, Vélez's stadium hosts Tears for Fears' first performance in Argentina. Soda Stereo is also on the bill. Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith arrive with The Seeds of Love and an expanded band, bringing the album's change of direction to the stage.
Oleta Adams is part of this lineup on piano and vocals. Woman in Chains sets the new material beside Head Over Heels, while Change, Pale Shelter and Mad World revisit the duo's beginnings. The surviving portion ends with Famous Last Words linked to the traditional When the Saints Go Marching In.
Heavy rain stops the performance and leaves the Argentine debut unfinished. The broadcast survives only in part, missing Broken and with a cut in The Working Hour. Months later, the same tour reaches another destination: the Santa Barbara show is filmed and released as Going to California.
- Oleta Adams is part of the lineup that brings Woman in Chains to the Vélez stage.
