Why watch

“To see Roberto Carlos in Buenos Aires in 1992, at an established stage of his international career.”

Context

Buenos Aires welcomes Roberto Carlos in 1992, when his career has already extended beyond Brazil's borders for decades. The performance comes from the period when romantic songs take center stage in his work, following his years in rock and Jovem Guarda in the 1960s.

Roberto takes the vocal lead within a musical framework built over years on the road. Eduardo Lages serves as conductor during this period: their partnership began in 1978, when the singer decided to perform his shows with an orchestra. The Argentine recital is part of this ongoing collaboration between voice, musical direction, and accompaniment.

The connection with the city continues in the following years. In 2008, Roberto returns to Luna Park for a series of performances, reconnecting with his Argentine audience. The 1992 recording preserves an earlier stage of that relationship, with just over an hour devoted to the singer onstage.
