Context
On August 2, 1992, Knebworth marks the end of the big-stadium leg of the We Can't Dance Tour. Genesis arrives with a recent album and a settled road lineup: Phil Collins, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford have Daryl Stuermer and Chester Thompson at their side.
Land of Confusion opens the way for No Son of Mine and Driving the Last Spike. The Old Medley runs through the 1970s, while Fading Lights keeps room for the long forms of the recent album. Collins shares the drums with Thompson in the duet before I Can't Dance, ahead of a three-song encore.
After Knebworth, the tour moves on to smaller venues in the UK. This is Genesis's last tour with Collins before the 2007 reunion. The night circulates on radio and television, with a BBC Radio 1 broadcast and airings on Sky, preserving the end of a leg, not an announced farewell.
- The Old Medley compresses the progressive era into a run of almost twenty minutes.
- Phil Collins and Chester Thompson share the drum duet before I Can't Dance.
