Context
On October 1, 1992, Bucharest's National Stadium welcomes Michael Jackson on the European leg of the Dangerous World Tour. His second solo world tour promotes the 1991 record and ties its scale to charity fundraising. The night also has another destination: bringing this stadium spectacle to television.
Jackson opens with Jam and crosses distinct phases of his career without leaving center stage. Siedah Garrett shares I Just Can't Stop Loving You; the Jackson 5 medley revives I Want You Back, The Love You Save and I'll Be There. Dangerous returns in the messages of Will You Be There and Heal the World.
The performance reaches HBO on October 10, while the tour continues into 1993. Later, the recording finds a place in The Ultimate Collection, in 2004, and gets its own DVD edition the following year. Bucharest remains an extensive document of Jackson's move onto the big stages of the 1990s.
- Siedah Garrett takes the duet on I Just Can't Stop Loving You.
