Context
Heavy rain falls on Landgraaf on May 23, 1994, and Crowded House is going through a recent change. Paul Hester had left the band during the American leg of the tour, in April. At Pinkpop, Peter Jones takes the drums alongside Neil Finn, Nick Seymour and Mark Hart.
The performance belongs to the Together Alone Tour, but it does not abandon the songs that opened the way for the group. In My Command, Fingers of Love and Private Universe put the 1993 album at the center of the stage. Don't Dream It's Over runs through that block, while Distant Sun and Weather With You close the preserved sequence.
The set is also part of the TV coverage of an edition celebrating the festival's 25th anniversary. The recording remains in the Dutch audiovisual archives, with the rain noted in the broadcast documentation. In 2025, the opening of the Pinkpop archive puts this set back into circulation: a band on the move, already without its founding drummer.
