Context
In 1993, Tina Turner's story reaches the movies as the singer returns to touring. Three years earlier, she had announced that the 1990 tour would be her last. The What's Love? Tour undoes that farewell and goes with the biographical film and its soundtrack.
Steamy Windows opens the run, followed by Typical Male and Nutbush City Limits. The set brings different stages of her career together: We Don't Need Another Hero carries the link to the movies, while I Don't Wanna Fight represents the 1993 work. Proud Mary takes the stretch before the close with Better Be Good to Me.
The season is also documented off the stage. The San Bernardino concert becomes the What's Love? Live release, and a show in Sydney is recorded for Australian television. They are separate records of the same comeback, in which Tina presents her story again while the movies turn it into a narrative.
