Why watch

“To watch his return to the stage in 2000, after a hiatus marked by Maria Rita's death.”

Context

After nearly a year away from the stage, Roberto Carlos chooses Recife to reconnect with his audience. Maria Rita's death in December 1999 had interrupted his routine. Amor sem Limite takes shape during this transition: the title announces a declaration of love, but the reunion still carries the weight of her absence.

At the opening show at Geraldão, Emoções opens the performance, and tears interrupt his singing. Eduardo Lages conducts the orchestra as Roberto moves through older hits and introduces Amor sem Limite and Tu És a Verdade, Jesus. Memories of Jovem Guarda share space with faith, without erasing the fragility of that return.

The tour continues through Brazil's Northeast and reaches São Paulo in January 2001. Before that, the album Amor sem Limite arrives in stores in December, and Globo's annual special returns to the schedule with a recording at its Rio studios. The Recife reunion begins this return, still shadowed by grief.
