Context
After a stop in São Paulo, the Wrecking Ball road ends at the Cidade do Rock. The night of September 21, 2013 closes a tour that began the year before, the first without Clarence Clemons. Jake Clemons is part of the horn section that expands the E Street Band.
Springsteen opens in Portuguese with Sociedade Alternativa and announces Born in the U.S.A. in full, in album order. Amid guitars, piano and horns, the night also makes room for the songs of Wrecking Ball. A child takes over part of Waitin’ on a Sunny Day; fans come up on stage for Dancing in the Dark.
The fireworks arrive during Twist and Shout, but they don't end the farewell: Springsteen returns alone for This Hard Land. The TV broadcast preserves this close of a cycle. In January 2014, High Hopes names the next leg of the road; Rio stands as the end point of the Wrecking Ball tour.
- Born in the U.S.A. appears in full, from the title track to My Hometown.
