Context
On February 28, 2013, the Quinta Vergara welcomes Elton John to the Viña del Mar Festival for the first time. The visit is part of the tour celebrating forty years of Rocket Man. After a stop in São Paulo, he opens the fifth night of the Chilean festival.
The Bitch Is Back starts a run of fifteen songs, with Bennie and the Jets and Tiny Dancer close behind. Elton focuses the performance on the songs and keeps the thank-yous short. After I'm Still Standing, he receives the festival's four awards in a quick handover, before returning for three final numbers.
Your Song closes the roughly eighty minutes set out in the contract. The trip continues to Buenos Aires, where the same band backs Elton at the Vélez stadium. Chilevisión's broadcast preserves the Quinta Vergara visit: a festival debut, with a condensed set and little room for ceremony.
- The four awards arrive in a single pause, between I'm Still Standing and the encore.
