Context
Eleven years separate the Reunion Tour from Bruce Springsteen's previous tour with the E Street Band. At the close of this reunion, Madison Square Garden hosts ten shows. The cameras capture the last two, on June 29 and July 1, 2000, and the edit combines the nights without keeping the original sequence.
Springsteen shares the stage with eight musicians, among them Clarence Clemons, Danny Federici and Steven Van Zandt. My Love Will Not Let You Down opens the program; Atlantic City and The River run through the first part. Further on, Born in the U.S.A. takes an acoustic form, while The Promise leaves Bruce alone at the piano.
In 2001, the reunion gets a second life outside the arena. HBO airs the special, and the recording also comes out on record. In November, the double DVD expands the program with eleven additional songs. The release turns the end of the tour into a lasting portrait of the band back together.
- Lost in the Flood returns after a gap that goes back to 1978 in setlist.fm records.
- The Promise strips the stage down to Springsteen and the piano.
